08.17.72 Happy Turdyfifth

It is this day thirty-five years ago that James Donley Jewell Jr. was born. His story began in upstate New York, but is currently set in Ballard where he lives with his wife, his daughter and his two cats. On this momentous occasion, I, being his wife, should express my appreciation for being the leading lady in his story. How might I do this, you ask? Well, I am nowhere near as talented of a writer (except for the Young Author's awards in elementary school), but I am a planner. I can make lists like nobody's business. That said I give you five things I cherish in my life that I would not have if Jim had not twisted and turned his way to the left coast.

1 – but, of course, Miss Olivia. The depth and breadth of our lives, and our biggest adventure(!) together.

2 – Reading. I didn't really read before we started along together, now this is something I can never do without. Except for he still wants me to read "thinky" stuff which might never happen.

3- NPR. I never had heard of it whilst being a young twenty-something. He would wake up with it on his alarm clock, and I'd get so pissed off. Why do you need someone yammering at you and hearing about depressing stuff at 6am? Well, then came along the Sunday morning programs, which I miss and wish we could listen to in peace now. Someday, right? And, yes, now who wakes up listening to Derek Wang? I do. I refuse to take on Sports Radio – for real now that is yammering. How can you listen to it all day???

4 – Vegetables. As most of you know, I'm a terribly picky eater. However, since my husband is also a talented cook, I have expanded my horizon some. I love me some asparagus, sweet bell peppers, veggie stir fry… none of which would be present in my life if not for him.

5 – City living. I probably would've been content to be an Eastsider (you know I love you all, but really can't see myself out there) if he hadn't taken me out and about in the city. Don't know what you're missing if you never see it in the first place, right? I'm trying to remember some of the first places… Greenlake (remember our "lunch break" there one day? I do.), Fremont, Wallingford, Ballard oh my. 206 represent.

I could drag my list on and on because like I said before, I love lists.

My life has been significantly enriched since he's been a part of it. Wishing him a 35th year with many ups and few downs... Maybe I'll stop singing "You take the good, you take the bad, you take it all, and there you have the facts of life. The facts of life." But probably not.

So, my new Word 2007 can automatically connect with my blog? What? Shoot, technology is cool. And I can log into my laptop with my fingerprint. Sweet…

So, can someone tell me about the joint email account appeal between spouses? Is this rather like a joint checking account? I mean, I can get into JJ's email if needed and he can log into mine, but really now... tell me about why the joint-ness.

(Lurkey-loo, I'm talking to you...)

Mmmm

Is it wrong to come home from work and eat 5 brownies?
I set such a shitty example for my daughter.
And tonight, I just don't care.
My double chin appreciates growth.
